Fall Wreath Care Checklist: Getting Through Football Season
Fall wreaths hang the longest of any season — often twelve weeks straight. A quick checklist keeps them looking new in November.
Before you hang it
- Fluff every mesh pouf and open the bow loops fully — they compress in storage.
- Check that berry and pumpkin stems are still seated in the glue; press any loose ones back while the wreath is flat.
- Wipe the door itself; dust transfers to ribbon over a long season.
Mid-season, around week six
- Cool-air dust with a hair dryer.
- Rotate the wreath a quarter turn if one side gets consistent sun — it evens out any fading.
- Re-fluff the bow tails, which flatten against the door over time.
Storms and travel
Autumn storms are the main risk for an uncovered door. If a front is coming through, take the wreath inside for the afternoon — five minutes of effort protects twelve weeks of display. The same applies before a holiday trip.
Game-day wreaths
Team wreaths travel to tailgates, which means more handling than a door wreath ever gets. Transport them flat in the back seat rather than the trunk, and never stack anything on top. If a ribbon streamer creases, a warm hair dryer and a gentle pull will bring it back.
